Sekhmet is a goddess from ancient Egyptian mythology who is often depicted as a woman with the head of a lioness. She is the goddess of war, hunting, and the sun, and is often associated with the protection of the pharaohs and the people. According to myth, Sekhmet could both spread disease and cure it, and more widely wield extreme destruction or award protection. She was called the “Eye of Re”.
