Bastet is an Egyptian cat goddess of protection, fertility and motherhood. She was worshiped throughout Egypt by rich and poor alike, as well as other cats, who were mummified and buried in the same elaborate style as humans. Beautiful goddess Bastet is believed to be a goddess of joy and dance. She is often depicted as being a cat or as a woman with the head of a cat, wearing her sun disk. Bastet was absolutely adored by women in ancient Egypt and was often portrayed as their protector.
